don camillo chor on the air: „the Meistersinger of Munich“

Today the don camillo chor has been on the radio twice: on Bayern 2 there was a report on the topic „Singing in a choir – how does it work?“, and on BR-KLASSIK a program about the festival Musica Sacra International.

Within the context of a program about the Choir festival „Deutscher Chortag“ in Frankfurt, the Bayerischer Rundfunk BR had visited a rehearsal of the don camillo chor (BR: „The Meistersinger of Munich“).  The topic of the report: „Singing in a choir – how does it work?“.

The new conductor Andrea Figallo, who had his very first rehearsal on this sunday, and the chairwoman Signe Faber had their say. „As a Singer in a choir you have to know one thing: you have to see yourselve as a part of the group; you have to contribute with your voice, but on the same time listen to the things happening around you.“, Figallo said. So the general tone of the report can be summarized with the thesis: to be able to sing in a choir you certainly need musical talent and a feeling for the right intonation, but the true art of choir singing lies in listening, rather then in singing.

Musica Sacra on BR-KLASSIK

A few hours later, BR-KLASSIK broadcasted a 90-minutes summarize about the festival Musica Sacra International in Marktoberdorf, where the don camillo chor had performed the Jazz-Requiem by Steve Gray, together with the via-nova-chor and the Landesjugendjazzorchester (Youth jazz big band of Bavaria). Two excerpts of the requiem were to be heard.
